For those who haven’t been fortunate enough to attend one of their parties yet, take heed. Northern Purpose, although still in its infancy, is already a very well-executed, yet potentially underrated house music night based in London, with humble beginnings rooted deep within the far reaches of some of Northern England’s grittiest towns. Operating by the same alias, the Northern Purpose duo that is Carl Hardy and Brendan Clark are two serious record collectors who share a burning passion for the deepest vibrations of house music, through to various strains of techno, but expertly never straying too far from the former. Their particular and educated sound as Djs is consistent and is a perfect example of how a niche within the vast realms of electronic music can be pulled off, and with notable conviction. Northern Purpose in both forms has maintained an element of quality and integrity from the off, that many others fail to ever achieve. This attained through both performances as artists and their reputation as an event. Their success is no doubt down to Carl and Brendan’s sincere knowledge of their craft, which allows them to be great residents at their own parties, representing one of the best underground parties London and the UK has to offer.

In a short space of time they have already played host to highly regarded talents such as Joy Orbison, Detroit legends Mike Huckaby & Rick Wade, Chicago export and man of the moment Amir Alexander, Julius Steinhoff & Dionne of Smallpeople, plus regularly conversing with the likes of Dubbyman and Jane Fitz on numerous occasions. All this quality in a handful of parties, backed up by an excellent podcast series gives the Northern Purpose brand an all-round solid offering. It’s no nonsense House music, at its best.
